Faith Healers?

What does it implies?

Does it mean even when a person has FAITH in God still needs them? Why so? And to do what? Who actually has the power of the divine and authority to become a “faith healer” apart from God and Jesus? If one is to look for where the terminology “faith healers” originated from may have trouble looking for it because first, it is not found in the Bible. However, there are many references in the Bible  that indicated only God and Jesus had the power to heal. In the Book of Exodus 15:26, “If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee”.  This does not at all give any reference to man having the power to heal except God. In Matthew 8:16, “When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by E-sa’-ias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”  Again, this reference only indicated Jesus as having the divine power to heal and not man.

If one study the Word of God – the Holy Bible, one will surely understand this very clearly. And, what God wants is for the Christians to have FAITH in Him and be ready to die having it. There is no emphasis in the Bible for any Christians to become anything fancy like “faith healers” known as what is existing now. Know why? This is because the ONLY way for a person to get “healed” and even those so-called “faith healers” as well, from all iniquities and sin, is to believe and accept Jesus as the Savior.  So why is there a need for any “faith healers” to endorse someone’s FAITH in God? Why is there a need for any “faith healers” to “stand in” for Jesus? The healing of the relationship between God and Man has already been accomplished by Jesus during his lifetime on earth. It’s finished!

The Book of The Acts 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” This clearly shows no one else on earth now would have been in any way prophesied to have the power of the divine to heal all sicknesses that were oppressed of the devil since Jesus and the apostles. They had the power to heal because it was promised by God for the purpose of spreading the gospel. It was recorded in the Bible very clearly. Anyone else besides me who read the Bible would surely understand it very clearly too. Is it not?

Why was Jesus given the power and authority to do miracles and heal people? Because only then, people especially the Jews, the children of Israel and God’s chosen people, will be able to see that it’s the sign of their Messiah, the prophesied one to come, had arrived. But the only setback of the prophecy to the Jews was that it became something very unexpected that took them by surprise. It turned out that their Messiah was just an ordinary carpenter and worse of all is, he was born of a woman who had no significance in the prophecy. Because of that, they rejected Jesus as their Messiah, even until now!

Now the funny thing is, anyone, who is not even a Jew can tell by now that Jesus was the prophesied Messiah.  It’s even not surprising that most people also knew, except the Jews, that it was part of God’s plan to ‘test’ His chosen people of their FAITH in God. Perhaps, what many people failed to understand including the Jews is, why God did not fulfill what His chosen people expected their Messiah to come as a King. Why? It is simple. That’s because God not only wanted to save the Jews but also the Gentiles and everyone in the world.

What Christians have to do now is get their priorities right with God by expressing FAITH in Him until the time comes for every faithful Christians to be tested whether they are TRUE in their FAITH in God! The time is when every Christians and non-believers will have to make a choice whether or not to receive the Mark of the Beast when as prophesied in the Book of Revelation.

If one talks about divine power, apparently one would also ask this pertinent question. What about the Satan? Does he not have the power too?  Yes he does. However, he used the power and is still using it for all the wrong reasons. That is, to destroy and annihilate all of humanity! Don’t forget. He wielded his power on Adam and Eve and caused them to disobey God voluntarily. He even was given the chance to question God’s trust in Job that led to Job losing everything and of course, thankfully, not his faith in God. The Bible also described the Satan as having the power to transform himself into the form of an “angelic human being” which a term now popularly known as “devil-in-disguise” that even became a hit for the king of rock ‘n roll few decades ago.

Jesus while fulfilling his ministry as God’s emissary on earth also warned his disciples of the Satan’s power to turn even anyone of them against him. Sure enough it did. It had happened as one can see what Judas did by betraying Jesus with a kiss. What’s more convincing of his power was, Satan even appeared as an “angel of God” when testing Jesus allegiance to God in the wilderness. So, do not be surprised that Satan can play the role of a “devil-in-disguise” in causing all tragedies and chaos in the world. Therefore, no one should take him so lightly or that he be brushed aside easily because he is always bent on seeing God’s precious creation and that’s the humankind, utterly and ultimately destroyed. So, are we all going to stand idly by to let the devil make use of us as scapegoats in destroying God’s love for us and for having given us another second chance to repent?

Jesus also warned and foretold of false prophets who will arise and even infiltrate into everyone one of his followers to deviate from his teachings after he’s not around. What he spoke of then is a prophecy that is now fulfilling in these days and times. John in the Book of Revelation also warned about the anti-Christ who will make himself or whoever known and will influence people to believe that Jesus Christ is not the only way to God. And that’s the real tragedy of humanity for being so easily manipulated by the devil. The best option and protection to stay not confused and not led astray is to study diligently yourself the Word of God – the Holy Bible. If you do this and genuinely ask God for guidance, believe me, God knows who is sincere and who is not and God will help you to know it too, who would be the “devil-in-disguise” without fail.

There’s no doubt God is the ONLY one who has the divine power to heal. God also made it very clear in His own words in Hebrews 11:6 that only when one’s FAITH in God is ‘purified’ and ‘refined’ by being tested with sufferings, can ONLY then the person be healed. Healed from what? From proving that having FAITH in God PAYS! It is easily understood because the power of faith is already manifested in the case of Job, Abraham, Moses, Daniel and many others. As we all know, Job was a perfect and righteous man in the sight of God and one who feared God. He was an ascetics 100%. Yet, why did God still “punish” him? And then healed him later? Why was there not any “faith healers” come to his rescue? Who else could wield such power  to heal him? Why did not God just get one of Job’s friend to do it? The answer is obvious. That’s because God highly regarded Job as a human being whom He can trust. Because Job kept his FAITH in God and never wavered. That’s what pleased God immensely! Job was so “suddenly” thrown into the threshold of the dark forces of evil and death. Even then, Job was not scared in facing death and yet heaped praises on God. Because of his strong FAITH in God, and refusal to curse God, it became clear why God personally healed Job from whatever the “disease” that the Satan inflicted on him. Do you see now? Do you believe that was the power of FAITH at work, NOT of works, lest any man should boast?

Now, if there was NO one else in the world at that time who could “heal” Job, what makes anybody thinks there can exist any powerful “figure” now with the divine power and be “anointed” by God to “heal” anyone with diseases and sickness. If there’s ever “someone” who claimed can bring a person back from the dead, then what’s the point of having the Bible, God, Jesus and all else in regards to salvation and everlasting life? Everyone would be living happily or even notoriously without having to worry about sickness, diseases and death. Right? Also, there would not be any need at all for building hospitals, “burning money” for people to become doctors, or surgeons and literary, no worries of contracting any dreadful diseases like AIDS and CANCERS which are terminal all because “someone” now can “heal” the blind, the deaf, the chronic diseases and even bring back the dead. So Jesus might as well forget about his second coming to claim his rightful kingdom as prophesied in the Book of Revelation.

What does the Bible says about “faith healers?”

In the Book of Luke 9:1, “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.” The Bible did mention that Jesus gave his 12 disciples the power to heal the sick. That was only because Jesus had a mission to fulfill and that’s God’s will on earth. And that is to lay a foundation for all, regardless of Jews or Gentiles, to be reconciled with God of which Jesus would be the ‘pillar’ of that foundation. Just because Jesus empowered his disciples to heal the sick then, does not necessarily mean “any believer” now can have the power to do the same in the name of Jesus.

It is not important whether the Bible says anything about “faith healer” or not. What is more important is what Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:13 to all Christians. “And now abideth faith, hope and charity, these three; the greatest of these is charity (LOVE).” Ultimately, it is by showing the Love of Jesus in us as Christians that would in the end truly heal all that were oppressed of the devil.
